Lena Schultz, fine art wedding photographer, in a clean white studio in Berlin

Lena Schultz

I studied fine art photography at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen — four years spent learning how light falls, how composition breathes, and why most photographs fail. Wedding photography arrived later, almost by accident. What I found was a discipline I could not have invented myself: applied art with a deadline, under real emotional conditions, with no retakes. I have not stopped since.

My practice is built on restraint. What is removed from a frame matters as much as what remains within it. I do not chase every moment — I wait for the one that holds all the others. Couples who come to me want images that do not shout. Images that simply are. If that is what you are looking for, we should speak.

"Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful."

What clients have said,
in their own words.

  1. REF · 001

“We had worked with photographers before — commercial shoots, portraits — and we knew what it felt like to be directed. Lena was categorically different. She occupied the room without imposing on it. The images she delivered from our ceremony at Villa d'Este are the finest photographs anyone has ever taken of us. We look at them and feel the silence of that morning.”

  2. REF · 002

“Lena's work is not sentimental in the way that wedding photography can so easily become. It is precise and a little cold and entirely beautiful — exactly what we wanted for Chambord. Several of our guests who are involved in the arts have asked for her contact details. That tells you everything.”

  3. REF · 003

“We chose the Designmuseum specifically because we wanted photographs that looked like photographs — not like wedding photographs. Lena understood this without explanation. She arrived, assessed the light, and produced a body of work that could be exhibited. We are proud of every single image.”

    K & A · Designmuseum, Copenhagen · March 2025

  4. REF · 004

“Our Tuscan wedding was small and unhurried. We did not want a photographer who would manufacture moments. Lena waited for what was real and caught things we had not noticed ourselves — my husband's hand on the stone wall, the way the olive trees looked in the late afternoon. The gallery is genuinely moving.”
